Mr Mahmood is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon at Lister Hospital, Stevenage and QE II, Welwyn Garden City. He has broad training and experience in managing the entire breadth of retina and uveitis conditions in addition to general eye conditions. He has more than 30 years experience in the field of ophthalmology.
He carries out cataract surgery in patients with or without retinal disorders. His busy clinical practice is complemented by his involvement in teaching and research. He lectures widely to doctors, surgeons, patient groups, GPs and other health professionals. He has published research work and articles in the international peer reviewed journals.
He completed his basic ophthalmic specialist training in Tennent Institute of Ophthalmology in the UK, followed by training at University Hospital of Leicester. Mr Mahmood’s subspecialty training culminated in a two-year retina and uveitis at prestigious University Hospital of Cambridge and Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.
As a lead for urgent eye care and rapid access service, he is dedicated to ensuring that the services we offer are safe, effective, well led, caring and responsive.
